Monaco Legend Group arrives in Asia with landmark Hong Kong exhibition
Summary
Monaco Legend Group’s reputation as one of the world’s most dynamic auction houses continues to grow, and this September marks another significant milestone with the company’s first-ever auction preview in Hong Kong. Taking place on 17, 18, and 19 September 2025 at the Opera Gallery, 1 Duddell Street, Unit 01, 11/F, Central, the exhibition presents a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts across Asia to preview more than 200 watches from the upcoming Exclusive Timepieces auction in Monaco, set to take place on 18 and 19 October 2025 at Hotel Le Méridien Beach Plaza.
The move into Hong Kong reflects Monaco Legend Group’s expanding international footprint and underlines the importance of bringing exceptional watches directly to collectors in key global markets. This landmark event follows two successful preview stops in Geneva and Dubai, forming part of what MLG has dubbed its global “World Tour.” Open to the public, the Hong Kong exhibition will offer hands-on access to some of the most exciting pieces to appear at auction this season, including two headline lots that are already generating serious interest worldwide.

Rolex reference 6062 in yellow gold with luminous black lacquer dial and six diamond indexes — one of only three known examples.
Lot 111: Rolex reference 6062 with black dial and diamond indexes
Leading the catalogue is one of the most important and visually striking Rolex watches ever made: a reference 6062 in yellow gold, fitted with a luminous black lacquer dial and six diamond hour markers. While any 6062 is rare—combining Rolex’s iconic Oyster case with a triple calendar and moonphase—the present example belongs to a far more exclusive club. Only three watches are known to feature this exact dial layout, placing it in the highest echelon of mid-century Rolex collecting.
Of those, the most famous is the “Bao Dai,” once owned by the last emperor of Vietnam. That watch, set with five diamonds, made headlines in 2017 when it sold for over CHF 5 million. The present watch takes that royal pedigree and introduces a visual symmetry all its own, with diamonds at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 o’clock. Last seen at Antiquorum’s landmark Mondani Collection sale in 2006, it has remained in a world-class private collection for nearly two decades. Now re-emerging with its original yellow gold “tile” bracelet, this 6062 represents a unique opportunity to acquire a trophy watch in exceptional condition and configuration.

Patek Philippe reference 2481 with cloisonné enamel “Tropical Rain Forest” dial — a masterpiece of mid-century artistry.
Lot 270: Patek Philippe reference 2481 “Tropical Rain Forest” enamel dial
Sharing the spotlight is a masterpiece from Patek Philippe that merges technical mastery with artistic expression. The reference 2481 was introduced in 1950 as a bold statement piece—the so-called “King Size” model, with a generous 36.5mm case and distinctive sculptural lugs. But it is the dial that makes this watch truly unforgettable. Executed in cloisonné enamel, the dial depicts a vivid “Tropical Rain Forest” scene, bursting with botanical life in rich, vibrant color. Crafted by hand using precious metal wire and powdered oxides, cloisonné dials of this calibre sit at the intersection of fine art and high horology.
Believed to be one of fewer than 20 examples with this specific dial motif, the present watch is also accompanied by a strong provenance. It was sold at the historic 1989 Habsburg Feldman auction, one of the earliest sales to elevate enamel Patek watches to icon status. It is offered with its original presentation box, Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, and a Certificate of Authenticity from the original 1989 sale. As collectors continue to chase both rarity and artistry, this example is a standout piece from a golden era of dial making.
An auction with global reach
Both the Rolex 6062 and Patek Philippe 2481 will appear at Monaco Legend Group’s October 18th and 19th Exclusive Timepieces auction, a two-day event that will present an exceptional range of vintage and modern watches. The catalogue includes a remarkable selection of contemporary grand complication Patek Philippes, the best examples of some vintage Rolex icons, important Cartier watches and other rare and unique timepieces that reflect MLG’s expertise in curating watches of provenance, design, and historical importance.
As the watch market continues to evolve, Monaco Legend Group is proving that auction houses can, and should, engage with collectors around the world. With its debut in Hong Kong, the company is opening new doors while staying true to its core principles: deep knowledge, strong relationships, and a passion for great watches.
For collectors in Asia, this exhibition marks a rare opportunity to see some of the finest watches ever produced up close, in person, and before the hammer falls in Monaco this October.
